We are a conservative Christian family living in rural Kansas on 20 acres. Our family consists of Tom & Dana; Brandon, 22; Sarah, 15; Nathan, 11; Jonathan, 9; Rachael, 8; and Samuel, 6.We have a growing number of cows, chickens, goats, turkeys, cats, a dog, mice, and sometimes the uninvited visitors of opossum, skunks, and raccoons! We raise grass-fed beef and pastured poultry seasonally.
dad (tom) desires to have a family home-based business someday, but is currently working full-time as a military contractor on Fort Leavenworth. He retired from the Army after 22 years of serving his country. He enjoys farm work, tending to the animals, driving his tractor, and has many skills; but most of all, he loves being with his family. He serves and leads us--we could not ask for a more loving or caring leader and father!
mom (dana) is the homemaker and enjoys many things but keeps very busy with regular duties...which include cooking, ironing, gardening, schooling and keeping up with all the children. She does a great job homeschooling the five children in school and gives much of her time to do this. She occasionally finds time to expand knowledge about her interests, such as canning, growing vegetables for the family, and herbs & nutritional healing. She is a Nutritional Herbologist and is very knowledgeable on herbs and their uses. She also is very dedicated to her family and takes great care of us!
brandon has worked full-time at a local uniform company for over two years now. He is taking online college courses and has many ideas for his future. He helps out with odd-jobs around here!
I, sarah, enjoy sewing & designing clothing, photography & image editing, graphic/magazine design, and making mozzarella cheese! I started playing piano ten years ago and harp six months ago. The Lord recently provided a concert grand pedal harp for us, and I am really enjoying playing it!
nathan is a very sensitive and generous brother. He is also very smart. He is the "main milker" of our five goats. He enjoys being outside with his brothers and playing violin--it has been neat to see him progress as he is helping Samuel learn also.
Born on Nathan's second birthday in Korea, jonathan is our great inventor! He can figure out how to make or use just about anything, like Dad. Along with caring for the animals with Nathan and Samuel, he enjoys playing outside, riding his bike, climbing trees, and being in the woods. He has quite a humor! He is learning piano and has a skill for music.
rachael was also born in Korea--her name means “little lamb of God” and she was born on Easter morning. She enjoys being with her brothers and is usually involved in about anything they are doing. She likes to cook, be outside, and play piano.
samuel has quite a character, being the youngest! He is always with his big brothers and loves to zoom around on his bike, climb trees, “hunt” animals, and play violin.
we pray that He would use us as a family to light to His path for others.
